Okey Dokey Bama

I followed part of the manufactured outrage concerning radio talk show host Bill Cunningham's use of Barack Obama's middle name this week. Montana blogger Gregg Smith at Electric City Weblog wrote briefly on the subject and an interesting series of comments ensued. It seems they ran the gamut from "it's Islamophobia/code word-speak pure and simple" to "what's the big deal?"

It's not as if Barack Obama, in his previous life which is now apparently off-limits to the mainstream press didn't serve as a board member of a nonprofit organization that granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourned the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe." It's not as if, despite renouncing and rejecting Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in a recent debate, Obama stopped short of saying he rejected Farrakhan's description of him as “the hope of the entire world," and specifically said he would prefer
Nation of Islam supporters voted for someone else. Talk about a "shuck and jive!" Right, Andrew?

I guess I'm not sure what all of the outrage is about. I listened to a podcast of Cunningham's remarks and he didn't attempt to insinuate that Obama was a Manchurian Candidate Muslim at all. And since when are we not able to use a candidates middle name? Shall we now be forced to hack an initial off of FDR, JFK, and LBJ, so as to not offend the Obamaniacs? During JFK's, oops, I meant JK's campaign in 1959 was not the use of his full name by his political opponents code-speak for him being Catholic, thus making him ineligible for the office he was seeking by many of the small-minds of the time? Did JFK, damn it, I mean JK run from "Fitzgerald" like a bus full of small children from an R. Kelly concert?

It's not like Cunningham was the first person to discover Obama's middle name. Who first really made a big deal of Obama's middle name? Was it not former Senator Bob Kerrey, a Democrat from Nebraska? And who, I might add, was it that ran around and talked about him selling drugs, and maybe being a coke dealer, could that have been Bill Shaheen, another Democrat in New Hampshire? And who was it who started playing the race card? What of Bob Johnson, the founder of the BET network, what did he say? All these things that the Obamaphiliacs are wringing their hands over, getting all worked into a sissified full blown 4 alarm candle-light vigil mania over, started in the Democratic primary campaign.

The only shameful part of the entire incident is how the presumptive Republican nominee, John McCain apologized for the non-incident incident..."I'm sorry. It's uncalled for. It's uncalled for in American politics. I take full responsibility, although he did it. I didn't even know he was going to be here."

Is this how the old man is planning to prove he's a "maverick?" By apologizing every time someone does or says something his opponent, or minions of Baracktards, says is inappropriate? Sounds like a page from Bob Dole's winning playbook.

But wait a minute, Hussein is not the only word you McCain can't use in the same sentence as Barack Obama. Liberal's the other.

In his radio and TV ads that are blanketing Texas, Barack Obama claims a chief executive can make more money "in 10 minutes" than an ordinary worker makes in a year. Obama wants to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, enact a national health plan, offer a $4,000-a-year tuition reimbursement in exchange for national service, and have the government intervene to prevent home foreclosures.

But he doesn't want anyone to call him a liberal.

For despite Obama's vow to build a working majority for change - to win a clear mandate for his progressive agenda, rather than engage in Clinton-like "triangulation" - he's not yet willing to own the l-word....

On Friday, Obama responded - by denying it.

One of the more appealing innovations of Obama's campaign is the way the candidate ends his stump speeches by running through the arguments against him: too young, too new, too naive, too trusting. Speaking before thousands of cheering young supporters in the Texas capitol, Obama added another: too liberal.

"Oh, he's liberal, he's liberal," Obama said, mimicking his critics. "Let me tell you something. There's nothing liberal about wanting to reduce money in politics. That is common sense. There's nothing liberal about wanting to make sure [our soldiers] are treated properly when they come home . . . . There's nothing liberal about wanting to make sure that everybody has healthcare. We are spending more on healthcare in this country than any other advanced country, but we've got more uninsured. There's nothing liberal about saying that doesn't make sense, and we should so something smarter with our healthcare system."

Obama has invented a phrase for actions that smack of politics-as-usual: okey-doke. Of the liberal charge, Obama thundered: "Don't let them run that 'okey doke' on you."

Okey doke, so his name is off limits, can't use Hussein. You can't call him a liberal. What other fact about Obama are we not going to be allowed to talk about? I don't know how you're going to characterize his policies if you don't call him a liberal. And, by the way, what's so bad about being a liberal? How come none of these liberals want to be called liberals?

Obama is an old-time liberal. He's an old-time socialist. Very little of the stuff that he says he's going to do, his policies, will ever happen. It doesn't matter. He's not going to be able to pull that off. But he wants them to, and he will try to make them happen. Obama never worked in the private sector a day in his privileged life, and it shows. You go out, you try be a young person, you try to get a job under President Obama. He wants to increase the minimum wage and index it to inflation. You want to blast young people right out of the job market, do the Obama plan. Good-bye high school and college jobs for kids, good-bye entry-level jobs. So will Barack step up and give our tax money to those he puts out of work? Yeah. Because it's never going to be his fault. It will be the evil Republicans in Congress who have no compassion...think the SCHIP debate!

I, for one, I do not want a naïve fool with "community organizer" experience managing the United States economy. That's not their job. Dictators manage economies. Presidents do not. He wants to manage upper-end wages, CEO wages. He wants socialized medicine, to expand unions, empower teachers unions. All of this stuff is Marxism when you boil it all down. These are all old ideas, old regressive progressive ideas that have failed, and Obama is a young, naïve man who apparently holds tight to failed old ideas. But the cool thing about being a liberal progressive is that they're like a Trojan Horse, who have to shield their agenda from you, the suckers.

How far would Obama get if he actually came out and said that he want's to nationalize health care, raise taxes to confiscatory levels on the "filthy" rich (i.e. who make more than $75,000 a year) preemptively surrender in Iraq, and flood the country with illegal aliens and then turn them into citizens in a transparent attempt to get votes and keep the the nanny state solvent?

Sadly, with John McCain as our nominee, it doesn't look like that's what this election will be about, which begs the question, if everything Obama says is off-limits is off-limits why not just concede already and save a whole lot of us the anguish? Okey doke?

If anyone is a racist it’s Obama. He belongs to a black separatist church which only ascribes to black values and Africa. They revere Louis Farrakhan. The pastor is anti-white. If he is elected, white people will become second class citizens. Are you for that?
Also Obama is a world socialist controlled by the CFR and Zbigniew Brzezhinski. He will go to war in Darfur, Pakistan, or any other place they tell him to.
This article below proves that he’s merely a tool for the world government and promoter of a tax to be paid to the UN to fuel its totalitarian control over us and to redistribute the wealth to other countries.
“A nice-sounding bill called the “Global Poverty Act,” sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.”
“The bill defines the term “Millennium Development Goals” as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, General Assembly Resolution 55/2 (2000).”
“In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.”
An Obama presidency would be racist and a disaster for the USA.
In one of Obama’s campaign offices, there is even a flag with a picture of a murderous Marxist dictator on it!

“MANAGUA, Nicaragua: President Daniel Ortega, who led the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua, says Barack Obama’s presidential bid is a “revolutionary” phenomenon in the United States.”
Yeah, the Marxist Revolution.
Judge the man by the company he keeps. He’s a dangerous empty suit.

Go Ron Paul!
The only real conservative -- still solvent, still in the race.

"Obama is an old-time liberal. He's an old-time socialist."

He can't be both. Choose one or the other.

As for the middle name, I'm not sure where you get the "manufactured" outrage bit. My outrage was genuine.

There's nothing wrong with using Obama's middle name where it is appropriate. But William Daniel Cunningham clearly is using the middle name only because he hopes it has bad connotations that will resonate with voters. That's a cheap shot, and despicable. And defending it is despicable, too.
